D degrees in Electronic Engineering from La Salle School of Engineering at Ramon Llull University, Barcelona, Spain in 1994, 1996, and 2002, respectively. He has been a research faculty member in the Robotics Institute at Carnegie Mellon University since 2005. In 2014 he founded FacioMetrics LLC to license technology for facial image analysis (acquired by Facebook in 2016). His research interests are in the fields of Computer Vision and Machine Learning. In particular, applications to human health, augmented reality, virtual reality, and methods that focus on the data (not the model). Prior to enrolling at CMU, he obtained an M.S. in computer science from National Taiwan University, where he was advised by Professors <a href=\"https:\/\/www.csie.ntu.edu.tw\/~sdlin\/\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Shou-De Lin<\/a> and <a href=\"http:\/\/vllab.ee.ntu.edu.tw\/ycwang.html\" target=\"_blank\" rel=\"noreferrer noopener\">Yu-Chiang Frank Wang<\/a>. His research interests focused on cross-modal learning, particularly vision-audio and vision-language topics. In addition, he has a background in data mining that includes expertise in handling missing data. Before entering CMU, She obtained her Bachelor&#8217;s degree, majoring in CS+MATH, from University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign. Her research interests focused on visual representation learning, generative model and multimodal machine learning.
