His work spans cross-modal fusion of visual, LiDAR, and thermal sensing for infrastructure and aviation inspection, including defect detection using stereo, LiDAR-enhanced SfM, and active thermography. Previously a postdoctoral researcher and adjunct professor, he earned his Ph.D. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from Carnegie Mellon University with research on automated spall defect detection in concrete bridges using point cloud data.<\/p>\n\n\n\n<hr class=\"wp-block-separator has-alpha-channel-opacity\" \/>\n\n\n\n<p><strong>Faculty Mentor:<\/strong> <a href=\"https:\/\/www.ri.cmu.edu\/ri-faculty\/john-galeotti\/\">Prof. John Galeotti<\/a><\/p>\n\n\n<div class=\"wp-block-image\">\n<figure class=\"aligncenter size-full is-resized\"><img loading=\"lazy\" decoding=\"async\" width=\"452\" height=\"678\" src=\"https:\/\/mscvprojects.ri.cmu.edu\/2026teamf21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/163\/2026\/05\/image-33.png\" alt=\"\" class=\"wp-image-118\" style=\"width:271px;height:auto\" srcset=\"https:\/\/mscvprojects.ri.cmu.edu\/2026teamf21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/163\/2026\/05\/image-33.png 452w, https:\/\/mscvprojects.ri.cmu.edu\/2026teamf21\/wp-content\/uploads\/sites\/163\/2026\/05\/image-33-200x300.png 200w\" sizes=\"auto, (max-width: 452px) 100vw, 452px\" \/><\/figure>\n<\/div>\n\n\n<p>Dr. Galeotti is a Senior Systems Scientist and Associate Professor of Biomedical Engineering at Carnegie Mellon University, directing the Biomedical Image Guidance Laboratory and teaching an internationally recognized graduate course on medical image analysis algorithms.
